i heard a sermon recently in which the pastor related a tale that had happened to him.

he had a buddy with a sex addiction problem, and his friend asked him to go to a meeting
with him. it was a Christian organization ministering to ppl with similar problems.

a man got up and began to relate his story saying, i drove past a (nightclub for adults) and i really wanted to go in.

several people raised their hands, and this pastor thought, why do ppl want to ask questions??

then the man said he turned around and went in. a few more ppl raised their hands.
he said he wound up spending too much time and too much money there, and more hands went up.

he said when he got home he was so ashamed and wondered how God could ever love someone like him.
every hand in the place was raised but the pastor's.

afterwards, the director of the organization came up to the pastor and said, you look confused.
the pastor said, yeah, i mean, why did so many ppl want to ask the poor man questions??

the director replied, we have one rule here. if someone is confessing a sin you also deal with,
you must raise your hand...

...so no one feels they're struggling alone.

my testimony is i've been too prone to point a finger rather than to raise my hand. :(

may God give me grace for other sinners like me, so i will raise my hand and say, me, too.
i struggle, too.

We have the same enemy and our flesh is weak. Praise God we also have the same wonderfully awesome savior who has redeemed us from our sin.

Raises my hands too.

Me too and am looking strait up raising my tongue as well, man I think I need more appendages. Ok, I was lying, I only have one arm that I can raise, but I'm holding the other one up and both feet. I need octopus power right now, at least 6 more arms to raise.

Do you know what would be nice?

Raising those hands, reaching out those that are near to pray together, with that spirit of massive repentance.

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to psychomom again.

What I notice is the things that annoy me the most about others are things I recognize in myself.
Sometimes, when I read the news, and wish God would step in and punish "those evil people", I realize that by His standards I am just as evil as them :/

I think that raising of hands bit should be introduced to more churches!
