When I was very young I had depression, and wasn't living in the safest environment. My step father was an achohlic and would throw beer bottles and chairs at me, and my father abused me. Eventually I got taken out of those places and once again placed in my step mothers hands. From there I learned to grow up fairly quick. She refused to cook or buy food for her family. So, I got a job and helped pay for food and groceries. I started taking siblings to school and putting them to bed ect. I made a dear friend, and he was always there for me if I needed to vent. During those years I fell into some bad habits of self harm and attempts at ending my life. That day I went to Andrew crying, that evening he went to church and came back, pulled me aside and said Natania, I need to talk to you. My pastor pulled me aside today and said that God told him I had a friend tht needed prayers. Natania, can't you see God is walking with you?
This puzzled me because my faith was faiding and I couldn't understand how a pastor who hadn't even known I existed knew that I needed prayers. Could it really be some God showed him this?
That night I went in my room and prayed for the first time in years.
The next day I went to my old church and went to the pastor who gave me the name Natania, and told him what happened. Later on when I walked my siblings to school I stopped by Andrews house and asked if he had an extra Bible. He gave me one and I ran home, stuck it under my pillow and ran to school. When I came home I went into my room and started reading.
By then my step mother had married a man who was strongly against religion and he entered my room. He saw the Bible, slapped me and took it away.
After that I went to Andrews house everyday to read the Bible or to pray with him. Whenever I got the chance I would walk to church hoping my step father wouldn't notice.
Eventually my faith grew stronger and I wasn't doubting.
From their life presented me with many other trials, but I learned that through the hardest things in life you can always turn to God and know that He won't forsake you, and you can take refuge and rest in His living arms.
Trials are so much easier with the love of God in your heart :)
