I was born on November 9, 1984 and weighed just 2 pounds and 7 ounces in the hospital. My mother tells me that I was near death in the hospital and that I was turning different colors and was close to dying as doctor's gave me little chance of living. My mother being a God fearing women, went downstairs to the chapel and prayed asking God to spare my life in return that I would grow up to serve him. My mom went back up to the hospital room where I was staying in and the doctor's found that I was ok. The incubator wasn't going off and i was breathing on my own. I eventually got out of the hospital and was sent home. My mom says that I was a miracle baby given I was near death and God saved my life. I was born with mild cerbal palsy and it was hard for growing up to talk and walk on my own. I eventually was able to walk and talk and live a normal life. I had delayed motor skills and its hard to understand things like math or even writing with a pencil as I hold it tightly with my hand. My speech was mostly slurred and I had a bad stutter which I got over as time went on. Growing up my family were raised Catholic, I remember that we used to pray to a statue of Jesus and go to church on Sundays as my parents were raised Catholic. I eventually got my First Communion through the Catholic church. Years later, my mom was watching TV and saw a preacher on TV talking about Jesus and my mom wanted to know what he was talking about. My neighbor across the street invited us to her church on Sunday one day. We have never been to a Christian church before so it was different than what we were used to. Over time my mom, me and my brother got baptist in the church. My dad was next to get baptize as it took a few months for him to come over as he was raised Catholic and didn't want to leave the religion. My family left the church as it was Spanish and my brother and me didn't understand spanish. We looked around for a church and my dad found a church called Theo Avenue Baptist Church. It was traditional and in English with Spanish services and had youth groups and a marriage class for my parents. We left that church as we wanted something differently so we looked again. My dad found a small church called Filadelphia Baptist Church. It was small like around 200 members and felt like you were part of the family. We joined and over time I got involved with my new church in the VBS and Block Party that we had for Halloween and cleaning the church on Saturdays. Our church even had feeding the homeless on Saturdays under the bridge giving out free tacos and coffee. Our church merged with another church and so did our members over time. Our church is now called Life Church and continues to grow to this day. I can't help but look at all of the amazing things God has done in my life.

Hi Art,

I hope you don't mind, but I put some paragraphs in your testimony so that others can read it more easily. When there's a wall of text like that, people will tend to not read it because it's a difficult read.

Anyway, welcome to CC!!! And thanks for sharing your testimony. What a blessing to hear how God has worked in your life and you families life as well!!! What an amazing story.

I'm rejoicing in the Lord for what He's done in you and for you. God is so good ~ all the time!!!

Again, welcome and it's nice to have you here.
