god answered my prayers. I prayed for help . GOd sent help. He did not cure her as I'd hoped . GOd sent help thru our dog Duke ( dobie x husky neutered male 100 USA pounds)
And I don't care if some reader doesn't believe me in any way that's not the point of this letter. The point is I'm telling testify a blessing in my life from God. That is the point .
When daughter was in pre school I was so distraught as any mom would be. She had a strange thing that doctors had not figured out yet . She had it since birth but doctors said she'd outgrow it and not to worry. It became more noticeable when she began to walk when she fell she'd hit her head and get a concussion and go to ER. I watched her all the time trying to catch her so she'd not hit her head. At this time my favorite bible verse is the one that is also a song " his eye is on the sparrow so I know he watches over me ". I sang it a lot , now it's my second favorite bible vers .
I felt upset and overwhelmed I prayed a lot for help. I was scared . My whole family and friends and my church and my aunt the minister had a prayer group going. It took YEARS for doctors to figure it out. During those years it was difficult to wait for news.
It was in that stage that our dog Duke began being able to DETECT IN ADVANCE. the we didn't know what was happening to her. ( later we learned it was epilepsy seizures , it took several YEARS to learn this ). In advance of the seizure Duke would pat the front of her knees with his fore head until she sat on the floor .
Then he would reward her doing so by acting pleased he would lick her wrists and push his head under her hands to be pet. And he'd make happy whimpers and wag his tail . So she thought it was a game. She say " mama Duke told me to sit down , isn't that funny" She'd say good dog a lot . I'd say good dog a lot
When she got older she would say of the after seizure state my brain needs to reboot referring to this confused needs rest time. When older She'd say of the early time when dog WARNED HER IN ADVANCE she'd say name of dog says I'm about to log out. After a seizure she says I must have logged out. I'll need to reboot. By which she means sleep. Kids in the block were used to this treated her normal she had independence. GOd did this for her see
Then hed want her to lie diwn hed pat her shoulder with his forehead . When she did he'd reward her the same way she also thought this was a game. Then Duke would lie on her shins so she'd not try to get up and also to reward her he'd continue the happiness whimpers and tail wagging . We'd both say good dog. See, she'd not hit her head in a fall. Hitting her head a lot got her in the emergency room with a concussion see.
Then after a few minutes she'd have a seizure . He'd move back and sit facing away from her . He'd act alert and look seriously in all directions while sniffing deeply and he'd sit very stiffly. I'd say good dog.
After the seizure , which she had no idea she'd had, she talk to me afterward, I feel icky, . I feel tired I feel sleepy . Mama my head hurts. Then Duke would lick her wrist and ask to be pet. He'd make humming sounds and burble sounds. Duke would vocalize as huskies often do. High pitched ya ya la ya . He'd lie close to her . We'd both say good dog.
Id put her to bed to sleep off the after seizure effect. He'd sleep in her bed and I'd say good dog. She'd say good dog and cuddle him.
If i was not in the room Duke would make a high pitch bark that he used for no other reason to summon me if she was going to have or had a seizure. I could relax and be in another room I did not think I had to watch her every minute to prevent her hitting her head in a fall.
later she got older she could be in the fenced yard with Duke. I'd go inside . I felt safe I did not need to watch her every minute and she had independence due to god blessed us with Duke.
Im trying to explain the God bit in all this the awareness that altho God didn't cure her he provided thru Gods providence the help needed so I felt ok I didn't have to watch her every minute. I felt she had help and was safe. She. Had independence .
when older she'd leave the yard to play with other kids in the neighborhood with at first Duke then later dogs 2,3,4, - Jasper, Caesar , king . The dogs would warn her in advance she'd go to the side away and do the whole sieURE Then dog would act as I said.
By that time she had RX so it was less often altho RX did not totally prevent . She'd get herself home or I'd hear the bark or a kid would come to the door and say come on it happened again. Kids got used to it . Gave her confidence to leave the yard that if it happened she'd have help and be ok. She was still able to be a just regular kid as she grew up.
Dogs didnt go to school they handled it without dogs help.
daughter is now 29 years old attends an adult day center where she is a client. Dog does not go with her to adult center. The staff copes with that .
Each dog was role model taught by older dog and me to do the same as Duke. How do I explain the awareness of the incredible gift from God that each older dog taught by role model each younger dog how to do the same. The blessing how do I explain ? Hey I know will readers give bible verses or Christian praise words ? Please.
We are on our 5th dog that was taught by our older dog king. King role modeled and I'd good dog reward with my petting thru the teaching process. . As each dog aged he would teach a young dog the skill and so on to dog number 5 . Dog number 5 is Milo. ( he is pyrenee x St. Bernard x white lab neutered 75 USA pounds age three in December if 2017 ) Milo goes with daughter and i into the mall and dog park and stores and other places. It gives her independence .
Milo also helps her in the home and in the yard. Daughter and I live together. If I go to basement laundry . If she needs help Milo will do the special bark. And if daughter says ma ma he will go to me and insist I go to her and I do. Older dog , king, watches and rewards Milo with tail waggin and happy whimpers and face licking . As well as role modeling. I say good dog. See.

maybe theres a bible verse. That applies to this . If so let me know. My favorite bible verse right now is " mighty hero, the Lord is with you. " NLT in th Gideon's section of bible. I try to be a mighty hero when I don't feel heroic . I mean Gideon did not feel heroic either. Because this experience has required me to be HERIOC. At time when I was so scared I did not feel heroic at all. I'm not telling this story not to Bragg, it's to let people know hard things can happen and god is with us .
