alright well it might be long so who ever reads it all i appreciate your patience, anyways right now i'm having serious doubts on god and jesus and basicaly the whole christian religion, i'm a 20yr old guy i've been born again when i was 16, i was apart of a baptist church for a few years and became pretty into it. then i got a few gf who werent christian which i think started to take me away from the whole christian life style. and now currently i'm just questioning why does it seem like satan tries harder to win over our souls then god does. every time i pray for help or assistance i get turned down. i'm not trying to play the pity game or anything but honestly i dont feel him in my soul at all and believe me when i say i would want nothing more then to have that.i just dont want to fake it and be one of those christians who are all enthusiastic about being a believer yet deep down inside they really arent. i guess my question is why is it that when i pray for some serious back-up i just get the cold shoulder...and please excuse all the spelling errors

I am going through the same sort of thing right now. And I think God our father is trying to raise us to be good christians, and so unfortunately that means he can't spoon feed us everything. We have to listen closely to him, and do what he says even if it sorta stinks to do it (for me it's distancing myself from my past friends as they are bringing me down the path I was on). Be obedient. Thats all I can say

The thing is God will help you, but you're not willing to surrender your will to Him to let Him. The reason you don't feel God is either:

1) You're not a Christian. You have never placed your faith in Jesus Christ for salvation
or
2) You have some serious sin in your life that needs to be confessed and repented of (dating unsaved girls will do that for you). If you would want nothing more than to feel God then you probably should start purging things that are separating you from fellowship with Him.

Satan's probably not trying to sin your soul, it's probably your own sinfulness doing you in. Jesus Christ died on the cross for YOUR sins, He took the penalty YOU deserve. He loves you, if you love Him, keep his commandments.

Oh and another thing, God is not gonna remove the things that tempt us, but He will give us a way out and the grace to overcome them.

My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. 2 Cor 12:9 (KJV)

His grace is sufficient. Is is present tense. You just gotta depend on that grace.

Sounds to me as if you have a trust issue with God. You don't trust God because you feel he does not show up in your life. However, the question you need to ask yourself is, have you given God good reason to trust you?

I have a some of questions for you Eric. I ask you to take a couple of minutes to meditate on each question before moving on to the next and please be honest with yourself and God.

Do you really love Jesus?

Are you aware that Jesus bore your sins on the cross?

Do you fully realize that you are just as much to blame as anyone else for nailing Him to that tree?

Are you willing to accept responsibility for your involvement and repent with your whole heart?

Do you understand that Jesus died so that you may be forgiven?

Now, do you truly love Jesus?

This my brother is the beauty of the cross. Their is power through the cross to save, to heal, and to deliver. I say these things because I want you to understand there there is a huge different between simply believing in God and actually trusting in God. The only way to truly put your trust in Him is by coming to a full understanding of what Jesus did for you on the cross and falling in love with Him for what He has done for you. It is that love, a love which a mutual love, that will bring you through the hardest of times and the toughest temptations. For the love of and for God is greater than any desire of the flesh.

Now to answer your question, why is God not honoring your prayers and moving on your behalf? Two reasons:

#1. Lack of relationship
#2. Lack of Trust

Let's address #1. Lack of Relationship. Do your pursue God whole heartedly or he's just but one part of your life? Is god the center of your life? Is God the first thing you take into consideration when making decisions? Every time you speak? Every time you act? The answer for almost everyone is a definite no however, if we truly love Jesus, that should be the desire of our Heart.

Now let's address #2. Lack of Trust. In scripture Jesus said "If you love me, obey my commandments." however if you do a deeper study you will find that what Jesus was really saying here is "If you love me, put your trust in me. Obey me and see that I am in deed true to my word." With that in mind, let me ask you, do you trust God enough to be obedient to His word? If so, well do you know his word? How often do you read his word (which also relates to fellowship)? Once you have proven that you are trustworthy not only in obedience but also in relationship, I am more than confident that God will honor your prayers. Not because of any works that you have done but because your prayers are no longer self centered prayers but instead your prayers become thoughts, the desires and will of the Father's.

Matthew 6:31 - 33 (NAS)

"Do not worry then, saying, 'What will we eat?' or 'What will we drink?' or 'What will we wear for clothing? For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you"

Good advice! Not only is it encouraging to see God working in your life but also the fact that someone your age is actually listening. *lol* Take care & keep the faith for the Lord is faithful and rewards He rewards that follow His lead.

No matter what, don't walk away from God. It will be the biggest mistake of your life. God never turns his back on those who cry out to him and he will answer your prayers when he knows is a good time for you. Sometimes we are put through tests, trials and tribulations to strengthen our character. I too went wayward and loved nothing more than getting blind drunk and partying which I won't deny was fun for 6 months. Then I started feeling dead and soulless so I prayed to God over a period of around a month and I meant it with all my heart and he totally transformed me. I went from being completely addicted to a wordly and self indulgent lifestyle on Saturday night to completely changed on the Monday and I have been sober from alcohol, drugs and sex for exactly five weeks now. I did not do this on my own as I mentioned I was addicted and in bondage to this kind of life. I went cold turkey with NO desire to return to the clubs the following Saturday. I know you probably get tired of hearing this, but do not stop praying and appeal to God whole heartedly. Admit to him you are lost and are having trouble following him. The best thing is complete honesty to him. He already knows what is in your heart but he desires nothing more for you to come to him and talk to him. This is what I did and it helped me more than anything else on this planet could or would. God is the only answer. I hope that what we have all said will help you. If you want God, you can have him but you must perservere.

Much Love,

Jenna

Amen Jenna, good stuff. The good Lord delivered me from some stuff as well. I tried everything on my own power to break free but to no avail. It wasn't until I completely feel in love with Jesus that I was able to walk away from those temptations. Scripture tells us that in our weakness His strength is made perfect. I believe that His strength is a love like no other (After all God is love) and once that love becomes mutual, sin can not prevail against it!

Praise the Lord!

I would like to start by saying you need to make sure that deep inside you are really searching for God and that you really believe in the resurrection and what it stands for.Your faith has to be very strong in order to fight the will of satan.Believe me,I have been in your shoes.
Do not quote me but I think 1 Corinthians 15:33 states "Do not be fooled.Bad friends can ruin good habits." If your friends are not standing behind you and helping you, then I suggest you dump them for now, find some good Christian friends willing to stand by your side. When you feel comfortable that you are where you should be in your walk with God then maybe find your original friends and share with them your feelings.Who knows, you might be surprised.
Feel free to send me a message.I would love to follow you and how you are doing. God bless

Eric we all go through times when it seems like God if not listening to us. He seems to be so far away. That is normal to go through. Yet there is a saying that my wife and I have that may help, "When it looks like God is not close guess who moved". As for you dating girls outside of the faith, that is not a wise the thing to do. The Bible tells us not to be unequally yoked, meaning we are not to get involved in relationships witht people who not believing like you. When you get in relationships with nonbelievers they tend to draw you back into the things you are not trying to do. I would suggest you have a talk with your pastor or some leader in your church. Try to get involved in a men's group that the older men can teach you how to live as a man of God. If you have any futher questions reply to this message and ask.
