My First Testimony! God be Praised! =D
Alright! At first I didn't know how to approach this since I had never written something like this before... =3 So I'll right like normal and in the way that reflects my personality lol! There are things that have happened that revolve around me and things that have happened that involve me, that I believe God has tested me in, in one way or another. There are 2 major events of those things that I believe God used to draw me closer to Him, and I still continue seek to know what He has in store for me, its admittedly tough for me but I haven't given up yet.
One major event that happened in my life was the death of my mother after I graduated from High School and after she managed to make it to my graduation. The second major event in my life...involved my life...literally. This was quite the recent event.
Last year, December of 2011, near midnight, I was walking across the street with my friend towards a 7/11 to grab a snack. It was something we did quite often at the same time so this felt like any other night.....except it wasn't. We were crossing an intersection with traffic lights and it was our turn to cross the streets. The street at the time, I think was clear for the most part. As we crossed a car came at 50 mile per hour on a 35 mile per hour road with no headlights and my friend didn't notice until the last minute but I didn't see it...least I don't think I did. She managed to dodge the car and called out to me (I have no clue where my mind was) and I looked towards her but I got hit. I was knocked in the air and landed once on my head on the car and the second time I hit my head on the ground. My friend said I wasn't breathing for a short moment and she called the hospital. ten minutes later the ambulance arrives and I was admitted. I had 2 broken legs, the lower portions of them, a broken pelvis, a broken left shoulder and a fractured wrist. I also suffered an issue involving my lungs and had to be put under a sleep induced coma to make it easier on my recovery. I even had a breathing machine helping me to breathe. I don't recall any of what happened that night and remember just waking up in the hospital, happy go luck from the meds they put me under. It took me a few days or a week to fully understand what happened to me. I was distressed after fully being aware of my position in the hospital. I couldn't move my arms to much, partially because one is in a cast and the other was just weak. I couldnt move my legs too much either. It wasn't a pleasing position at all. I stayed 2 months in the hospital altogether. and afterwards a few months in a nursing home because I was well enough to be out, but not well enough to be in a rehab. Afterwards I spent a week in rehab and made it home. I had a few quarters left of college before the accident and it had been moved. I am now in college again and have a few months left before I can get out of it.
That accident was horrific and it was more than a miracle that I survived. It was all thanks to God that I am living and breathing now, that I can walk with no support (except having to wear a brace on my right foot for nerve damage) and that I can speak and function. I was desparate to get out of the hospital and sometimes I felt alone there. I was reminded even from a nurse to be strong in the Lord. I had visitations from my father and stepmother every day and even got a visit from my younger brothers including stepbrothers (though they were technically too young but got in). I was reminded each day to keep my faith in God and my dad read verses to me from te Bible and would pray right before he'd leave each day. I had visits from relatives and my boss from my part time job. God was with me the whole time from beginning to end. I cannot stress enough how thankful I am to him. Each day I remember what he did for me and each day I am proud and thankful. So much worse could have happened and I'm now alive and well. Even the doctors were amazed at my recovery, but all credit of my being alive and the speed of my recovery goes to God. Ever since the accident, I've thought about why it happened and what message God was trying to send me. Once I got back into college, I had started again to read the Bible, pray and even attended a church near where I lived. I was in student housing during those times. I am very grateful and thankful of what God has done for me. I want to continue to seek his will and know what he has in store for me. I wanted to step out and share this testimony as a starting point. I have told some others about what happened to me, but I never had stepped out fully and say the very words that it was God who saved me. I'll never forget that my life was literally on the line in God's hands as it is everyday, but especially that one night.
