After walking away I found myself back doing the things I hated most. I was still going to church but I was at the same time not living for Jesus. Well to save our lives we made a quick big move. We moved to Texas over 2500 miles away from where we were. I woke up on morning and told my wife let's go, we packed all we could in a 2001 Ford Focus along with our three youngest kids. We had $200.00 to our name. We made it to Texas on Thanksgiving in 2001 with no money left in our pockets. The only person we knew here had moved and we had no way to contacting them. We drove around all night looking for the street where they use to live not knowing that they had moved. We stopped at a police station and told them the story, and they allowed us to go sit in thier employee lounge. GOD was working. With no money and food the cops had 5 plates left from thier thatnks giving dinner and gave them to us. We had a real Thankgiving. So we left that night and I went to a hotel and asked the manager if he could put us up for a night. He told me no, so we all slept in the car at a small hospitol parking lot, and all I could do was sit outside the car and cry. Thinking how could I get my family into such a terrible situation. Well the next day we were driving and my wife said we need to find a church. We did and the Pastor was about to leave. He told us that if he had not had to talk with a couple about to get married that no one would be there. Well the church put us up in the same hotel that turned us away and the same guy was at the front desk (God is good). We were put in a shelter the next day and they had two rules. Everyone go to bible study and to church on Sunday. Well that was no problem for us, the church was Lakewood with Pastor Olsten. The wanted to take us to a certian section ans we said no we were not going to sit in a so called homeless section (not that the church had one). Well our story got around the church and the leaders started giving us money to get by, taking all they had in thier pockets putting it in my hand. Dottie Olsten wrote a check to our family for $2000.00 to move into an apartment so that I could go get a job. We were ble to get an apartment without neither of us having a job look at God. After getting out kids ajusted in school I took off one morning to find a Job. There were a string of car dealers not far from us and that is what I was doing for a few years already. The first one I stopped at hired me. I started working for them on December 16 and sold 6 cars by the 31st. That was enough to pay the rent, buy groceries, and have an outing with the family. God worked it all out.
I will be back for part 3
