I trained for a race that happened on Thanksgiving day. A bunch of my friends and I did it together and we did pretty well. It was my first race and I finished the 5k at just a few second over a 10 minute mile. Mind you a couple of months prior I couldn't even run a full mile. The worship pastor who is 57 and trained just as long as I did came in about 2 minutes behind me.
After the race we all sort of quite because we didn't have anything to train for. For the new year I resolved to start running again. So far I haven't missed a day in my schedule. Today was the hardest. I came so close to skipping because its so cold and I can't stand cold. I would rather be lit on fire than freeze to death. BUT... I ran. It was 31 degrees calculating windchill factor and there were continuously icy gusts of 20-30 mph.
