I finally received my w2's to file taxes. Interesting that I made only a little more than $13,000 and my rent was $13,500 for that same time frame.

Well, I didn't tithe cash, but I did tithe time. I volunteer at my church regularly. Because of the economy we are very short staffed and we could really use another 3 or 4 staff member to make to work more equal.

Yes I do. But I sought much counsel and prayed about this. We certainly don't tithe our grain anymore. I chose to tithe my time which equate to money saved for my church since they didn't have to pay for someone else to do it.

Hi Jordache, I am glad that you made enough money for shelter. God has a plan for each of us and it appears He is really using you to reach out to people through your church. If the goodness in your heart was money you would be a millionare! :)

To tithe is important but it has never been about money. If we are participating in our church and community giving the time we sometimes do not even have, that is more precious than just giving legal tender. We do not know the situation Jordache is in, she could be saving money for a trip or getting ready to do some home repairs. If Jordache needs the money she can definitely give her time to the needs of others.

But we DO know the situation Jordache is in; her rent alone costs more than she makes. Where do you see money for a trip or home repairs in that? I don't even see food or utilities in that.

If Jordache has been given the time to donate services equivalent to or equal the value of her tithe, her doing so to me seems perfectly fair and within the scope of giving.

Sorry I do not know Jordache, I made general statements to explain the tithe.

Im not sayiing that volunteering at her church is wrong everyone that serves at their local church is
Volunteering their time. What i said was eventhough times are hard as long as she's working she's entitled to pay her tithe.
Now if she's unable to pay for whatever reason she is still entitled to pay it .But seeing that you want to get emotional read Leviticus 27:30-33
As for my sister times is hard for everyone but the word of God stands as is..Heaven and earth shall pass but my word will never pass away
Luke (21:33) if you have any problem with what im saying take it up with the author.

I don't understand why we have to argue about such things? It's not really our business how or how much Jordache tithes. God's name is being glorified so why take that focus away from Him? I believe the Lord has provided for you Jordache! Thank Him in whatever ways you can!

Verily, Allâh enjoins Al-‘Adl (i.e. justice and worshipping none but Allâh Alone - Islâmic Monotheism)
and Al-Ihsân [i.e. to be patient in performing your duties to Allâh, totally for Allâh’s sake and in accordance with the Sunnah (legal ways) of the Prophet in a perfect manner], and giving (help) to kith and kin (i.e. all that Allâh has ordered you to give them e.g., wealth, visiting, looking after them, or any other kind of help), and forbids Al-Fahshâ’ (i.e all evil deeds, e.g. illegal sexual acts, disobedience of parents, polytheism, to tell lies, to give false witness, to kill a life without right), and Al-Munkar (i.e all that is prohibited by Islâmic law: polytheism of every kind, disbelief and every kind of evil deeds), and Al-Baghy (i.e. all kinds of oppression). He admonishes you, that you may take heed.

God bless all
