So, in youth group tonight, our student ministry team spoke on Acts 3. In the chapter, Peter and John heal a crippled beggar. As soon as they do, he gets up and begins to praise Jesus. So, here's the deal with this little scene. The beggar had given up on the idea of ever walking again. That's why he chose to sit on the streets and ask people for money. He figured money was the next best thing. Peter and John could have just given him the money, said God Bless, and left. But they saw the God shaped hole in his heart. They saw his need for something bigger, even when he didn't realize it himself. There are two types of people in this world: the type that know they're searching for something and the kind that don't. When we hit the first kind, it's relatively easy to share the truth with them. They're looking for something like that. But when we hit the second kind, we have to pick them up, turn them around, and show them the right direction. Easier said than done, right? But that's exactly what Peter and John did when they called on Jesus to heal him. Instead of just TELLING him who Jesus was, they SHOWED him. So, think about that. How can you serve someone to show them that God exists? Who do you have in your life that needs to fill that God-shaped hole in their heart? Are you going to give them what they physically need, say God Bless, and walk away? Or are you going to feed them spiritually? Sometimes, you need to do the first to do the second. You just have to wait for God to show you how to do it in the moment. Just something to think about.
