So anyone who has read 1 Peter 3 knows it is about suffering for Christ or for Righteousness' sake... However, when reading it just now, I had a revelation about one aspect of being baptized. When we think of baptism, most would agree that it is a declaration of faith. And it is!
Reading 1 Peter 3:21, tonight, I realized that there is another aspect of baptism. It is an appeal to God, through Christ, to sanctify us and give us a "good conscience."
"Baptism, which corresponds to this, now saves you, not not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him." -1 Peter 3:21-22
So the question I will have to ask from now on is: "Am I appealing to God for a good conscience?"
