Father, I am offering prayers for a co-worker of my wife's. My wife holds her in great respect, and appreciates her kindness. The lady concerned is in her 70's, well past her normal retirement age in the UK. Two things have happened which bring great sadness to this ladies life. Her husband has an aggressive cancer, diagnosed as terminal, and is getting weaker by the day. At the same time, she has discovered that her job is under threat.
My wife was very distressed when she find this out, and we wonder again that bad things seem to happen to good people.
In some ways we take comfort that bad things happened to Jesus as well, and his friends, and he wept. It shows us that even if we don't understand, the Lord is still with us, and trusting that is the thing that helps.
I pray that this strength, and the Lord's healing power, will rest upon my wife's co-worker. Lord, I worry about asking for miracles, but I pray that you will bring your own power and help to these people. Amen.
