I ran across an article showing that fraud is not only rampant in science,
but also that fraud seems to be, statistically, on the rise.

It's a very good article with examples, explanations, citations etc.
It's a bit dry and tedious, but pretty good stuff.

:) Science fraud epidemic

Enjoy.

oh dear. how disturbing...not surprising though, really.

" And the problem will likely get worse: we can expect misconduct to occur more often in the future—in particular in biomedicine, where the pressure to publish is very high.25"

"The authenticity of Archaeoraptor, which ‘some prominent paleontologist’ saw as ‘the long-sought key to a mystery of evolution’ was reviewed by Simons.3 Simons’ research concluded the fossil was a fraud. High-resolution x-ray CT work found ‘unmatched pieces, skillfully pasted over’.29

wow....just getting in there and mixing and matching and pasting over.

well, remember the Global Warming Hysteria - and their "Hide the Decline" fiasco.

wasn't it Bernays who said the public would soon simply defer to 'experts' to tell them everything?
i forget...maybe it was Galton-Darwin.
or...any of those guys.

fascinating...important to keep in mind these days.

The concept of a technocracy remains mostly hypothetical, though some nations have been considered as such in the sense of being governed primarily by technical experts in various fields of governmental decision making. A technocrat has come to mean either 'a member of a powerful technical elite', or 'someone who advocates the supremacy of technical experts'.[1][2][3] Scientists, engineers, and technologists who have knowledge, expertise, or skills, would compose the governing body, instead of politicians, businesspeople, and economists.[4] In a technocracy, decision makers would be selected based upon how knowledgeable and skillful they are in their field.
