I'm a new donor membership member, so I don't know how it works. If you use this site's "Start Conversation" feature to a member, is it a private message? Or does that go to their public Conversation section?

Is there a private message function? Any suggestions for private convos or wise methods for initiating contact with someone off site?

Once your donor privilege is activated, "Start Conversation" is
a PM you can initiate with anybody who allows it, or a group.

Best advice i can give for wanting to chat off site is don't jump into that idea too soon. Most people don't want to go off site with people they don't, or barely, know.
Same can apply to PM's. It can work to ask someone in forums, first, if they mind. Or if you do want to message first, start off by apologizing if it bothers them and how you won't be upset if they opt not to reply. That's how i do it if i PM someone i don't know. Which is rare anyways haha.

Also, and this is totally off-topic, but if anyone has any questions about the proper usage of the words "PM" vs "DM", please see this topic: PM vs DM - Christian Chat Rooms & Forums :p

@Sculpt you can ignore this because you totally used the correct terminology.
