Good morning all,

I'm new to this site so I'll quickly introduce myself. My name is Matthew I'm 21 and I'm from south London. Introduction over.. haha :)

So, the reason I'm posting this thread is to ask if anyone has found any representation of the Bible (New or Old Testament) that is simple enough for a person who has dyslexia to understand. I'm not saying people with dyslexia don't or can't understand the Bible as it is now, I'm just asking if there is any simpler formats for someone with dyslexia?

Anyway if you read this thread then thank you for your time. God bless xx

Hi Maaathew, I love that you asked this.

I struggle with this myself, and I would love it if there is a bible that can help with this.

I have found some help in reading the bible, by reading it out loud, but I do have to read in small amounts and repeat reading several times.

I know this next thing may sound funny, but it has helped me the most.

I have one of those little head lamps, you know, the kind that is strapped to ones head.

Ive found that by turning off the lights, and reading by this small light, it has helped me to focus better.

I believe this is because I see only the words in front of me, nothing else.

If you find a bible that is written for dislexia, please let me know, Id love to have one! :)

God bless.

Thankyou Maaaathew for asking this question !

I never thought to ask if there is a bible written for those with dislexia.

Im from a generation that did not see this difficulty, so I have always simply struggled along.

To think, that there might be a bible written for this, has made my heart hope!

Im now excited to think there may be one written ! :)

Hopefully, some one may give us the answer to this. :)

God bless.

Hi Matthew,

You could try "The Message" It's not written for dyslexia. but in contemporary english and easy to read, also try the 'NLT' (New Living Translation) its very good.

I pray that this may help.

It brings great joy to my heart that you're day, night, evening has been lifted with hope pickles ^_^ hopefully God willing someone will come along with a website or an answer to help us both with this question ^_^

Any answer helps Phil ^_^

The New Living Translation is very clear and simple. I have to admit it's a nice little reader. My question is open to all, because I haven't found a specific and simple enough translation for my girlfriend who has dyslexia. Bless her she's extremely academically smart, but when it comes to English and reading she has her "dyslexia barrier" and I've been hoping that perhaps there has been a translation specifically designed for people with dyslexia.

I mean no disrespect or to belittle, but when I read the title to this thread on the main page, I laughed.......reason being, I myself was thinking of this very thing driving to church this morning........see, more than a few people have accused me of being dyslexic over the years.......and I really laughed.........BTW, no, I am not aware of a translation for dyslexics.......Lord knows I struggle with the KJV and CJB as it is........... :)

God bless, and welcome........I'm new also, AND I'm from the South, but not London, rather the Heart of Dixie.

When my daughter was 8 we realized she was having reading difficulties of some sort. She would spend an abnormal amount of time doing homework and from Tuesday to Saturday she frequently suffered from extreme headaches. During the summer months she seldom had headaches. This went on for four or five years. We took her to various specialists checking everything from her eyesight to allergies. I kept on searching on the internet in the hopes of finding something to explain her problems and one day I stumbled on an Irlen Syndrome website. As it turned out this is what my daughters problem was and my wife also had the problem. Just thought I would pass this on and I do realize that dyslexia is different.

My grandma always said the "Living Bible" version was easy to read.
You can go to biblegateway.com and pull up a verse then change between many versions and maybe find one you like.

My girlfriend is lysdexic, and she uses that one.
After much study of the English Language, I'm convinced that Daniel Webster was a dysfunctional dyslexic..........but, that may be just me.........
