I just listened to an inspiring mp3 recording of Gladys Aylward giving her testimony. She was a real warrior and her testimony is very human, humble but convicting. Her love for the Lord was such a powerful part of it. It’s available online
(free, at: Gladys Aylward - Online Sermons). She accepted whatever the Lord had for her and went for it, with gusto.
The movie [Inn of the Sixth Happiness] didn’t explain that of the nearly 100 children she went on the long trek with over the mountains, 80 of them were “hers.” She had adopted abandoned kids, and her “family” had grown to be that large. Later, when living in Taiwan, while giving this testimony in Great Britain, her “second family” had grown to 27! What a saint!
