Does anyone here know where I can get (download) a boot disk, preferably free, online? It is for my laptop, an HP CQ61. This post is about as miscellaneous as it gets...............thank you all.......

Operating systems for Windows and MAc are not free. You can download a boot disk for various types of Linux. I use Ubuntu. It requires a Windows sytem to translate the image file into a CD or USB disk. After that, you can install Ubuntu alongside Windows, and like me, you will find it does almost everything very well. But warning, it will not let you talk in the chat rooms here.

OK, if I do not get hold of some kind of replacement for the boot manager, I will try the Ubuntu........got a link? Thanks Ken....
