BORN TO DIE SO THAT YOU MIGHT LIVE[/h]

You are probably familiar with the story of Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem. The Bible says that when the time had come, Mary “brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger”. (Luke 2:6–7) But have you ever wondered why the angel told the shepherds that the Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths and lying in a manger was a “sign”?

A manger is actually a feeding trough for livestock. Do you know what a feeding trough in those days looks like? I have seen a similar one at Solomon’s stables in Meggido, Israel. It is basically a big rectangular block of stone with the trough hewn out of it. So baby Jesus, who was wrapped in swaddling cloths, was placed in such a stone trough.

But why was that a sign? Because if you have seen the empty tomb of Jesus at a place called The Garden Tomb in Jerusalem, you would have noticed that the place where His body was laid, inside a tomb hewn out of rock, resembles a stone trough. The Bible says that after Jesus’ crucifixion and death, Joseph of Arimathea took Jesus’ body, wrapped it in linen and laid it in a tomb hewn out of a rock. (Mark
15:43–46)

Can you see the similarities? Wrapped in swaddling cloths and laid in a manger, baby Jesus would one day be wrapped in linen and laid in a tomb. That was the sign the angel was referring to. It pointed to Jesus’ death.

Jesus was the only child in all of humanity born to die. Once you realize that, you will realize how much God loves you. You will realize that He gave up His Son for that one purpose, and that His Son willingly came for that one purpose—to die for your sins and mine.

Beloved, can you imagine living your life knowing that you are just qualifying yourself to die on the cross to save the world? That was the life that Jesus lived. He lived to die, so that we might live and enjoy life abundantly today!

Swaddling cloths and the Tomb linen cloths are two completely different types of wrapping, it simpley mean to tightly wrap an infant with cloth, the linen cloth used in the Tomb was treated with spices and oil, which after a day or so in the Tomb would of become like a paster of paris cast or a cocoon. Which is a far cry from swaddling cloths that are soft and comforting, where the Tomb linen cloths is restrictive and is treated with spices and oil to mask the smell of death, where swaddling cloths do not need to do that because they need to bring comfort and warmth to the infant. Look at the great differences in the two situations, the swaddling cloths brought a host of angels Luke 2:13

“And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying”

Luke 24:5, 12 “While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men stood by them in dazzling apparel….12 But Peter rose and ran to the tomb; stooping and looking in, he saw the linen cloths by themselves; and he went home marveling at what had happened.”

Notice here there are two men, which are angels, no heavenly host and Peter stooped to look at the linen cloths which we know were treated with spice and oil so he was basically looking at a cocoon or something that looked like the old paster of paris casts that they used back in the day. He was wrapped in swaddling cloths at His birth with the praise of the host of angels from heaven and worshipped by the magi from the east. Now the linen cloths are to stop the smell of death in the Tomb, with two angel pointing to where He had laid in death and the linen cloths lay there as well, with the face cloth folded in a seperate place seen by Peter.

Some may see that Peter seeing the linen cloths in the Tomb as insignificant as it may seem, is proof that the body was not stolen it was because the cloth for the face was folded in a place away from the bodily linen cloths, thieves would not of taken the time to fold the facial cloth if indeed the body was stolen as the Jews and Romans story was,
here is the face cloth, John 20:6-7

“Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb. He saw the linen cloths lying there,7 and the face cloth, which had been on Jesus' head, not lying with the linen cloths but folded up in a place by itself.”

At His brith and death He was wrapped in linen cloths, there were angels, men were witnesses the magi at His birth, the disciples of His resurrection and gifts He recieved at His birth and He gave a gifts in His resurection, our justification and gifts to the body.

Romans 4:25 “who was delivered up for our trespasses and raised for our justification.”

Ephesians 4:8-12 “Therefore it says,
“When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men.”

9
(In saying, “He ascended,” what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower regions, the earth?10 He who descended is the one who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers,12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,”

The beauty of Christ at His birth and in His death He brought blessings to His people and as the angel told Mary, "for He will save His people from their sins." Because of the love of the Father for His people. Romans 5:8

“but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Ephesians 1:3-6 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.”

If you read on 7-14 look at all the us and we's, it's all that the Father and the Son did for us His chosen people, the Church, He blessed us all. Notice is is US all, not He blessed ALL as in the world, but He blessed us all that He in love predestined us to be His sons or children through Jesus all according to the purpose of His will. He chose us before the foundations of the world, before we could do anything good or bad because it is by His will, not by any thing we could ever do because His grace and mercy is not by works of righteousness, Titus 3:4-7

“But when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of works done by us in righteousness, but according to his own mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewal of the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that being justified by his grace wemight become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.”

When reading the epistles look for all the we, us, our, we're, ourself, ourselves when you read these notice how they are speaking of salvation, they never saying anything about salvation being done/applied for or to the world when it talks about the world or sinners it says they, them, they're, themselves, themself, thier and the like when the apistles speak of thoae that hate Jesus or the Gospel. The Father had a definite plan in His foireknowledge Jesus and all the people that the Father would give Him were all in this definite plan of His atoning death. Acts 2:22-28

“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a man attested to you by God with mighty works and wonders and signs that God did through him in your midst, as you yourselves know—23this Jesus, delivered up according to the definite plan and foreknowledge of God, you crucified and killed by the hands of lawless men.24 God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it.25 For David says concerning him,

“‘I saw the Lord always before me,for he is at my right hand that I may not be shaken;26 therefore my heart was glad, and my tongue rejoiced;my flesh also will dwell in hope.27 For you will not abandon my soul to Hades,or let your Holy One see corruption.28 You have made known to me the paths of life;you will make me full of gladness with your presence.’”
