Seems to me that Centrists, those whose political ideas are more acceptable of bi-partisan cooperation in Government are entering into a time of "apathy." They do not seem to be as engages as they once were. As when we had the Reagan Democrats...........and such.

It seems to me that the ideological wings of both Parties are the "activists" currently pushing the agenda for each Party.

As I think about this, I have to wonder how this will affect voter turnout in 2016?

I can easily believe that the General Election voter turnout may well be far lower than it has been for some time. Do not know which Party this will favor, just pondering if it will be.

I suppose the Primary voting turnout will be a snapshot that may give us a clue as to how many Americans are actually involved politically these days.

In the last several years, the more liberal wing of the Democrat Party has become even more liberal, and the more conservative wing of the Republican Party has become even more conservative. It is quickly reaching a point where bi-partisanship will cease to exist. What then?

Oh?.....Prolly the "birthing" of another political party, or 2. Already "rumors" of a "3rd party" are keeping "talking head agitators", busy, buzz buzzing! :p

I have long wished for a viable 3rd Party, and spoken in favor of such. Problem is, the two existing Parties are so deeply entrenched within the power structure of Local/State/National Politics, that a viable 3rd Party is a near impossibility.

However, does not mean it could not happen. But, in my opinion, for it to come to pass would require a near Revolution.

We should quit calling socialist, liberals and quit calling liberals, conservative. What we have in Washington is an "establishment" that uses socially charged issues as a smoke screen while both parties work out deals with special interest behind closed doors. This "establishment" is revealed in their contempt for new comers who haven't sold their souls. They hate the likes of Trump, Carson, Cruz, and others.
Americans really need to pull their heads out of the sand as we haven't had a representative republic in the last 100 yrs
