Should church leaders be required to live up to any certain codes of behavior? What sorts of codes? Which leaders? I know Paul discusses this, but our churches seem to be set up differently than the churches Paul was referring to.

Just to over simplify it. They have to be held up to the Bible. If they are doing things or not doing things they are suppose to, which is in direct violation of the Word.. Then there is a problem

Maybe read 1 Timothy to start.

May all those feeding the flock be led of the Good Shepherd.

i think it should be common knowledge to be a well behaved pastor. we should ALL be Christ like. but pastors specifically should be more than commonly "righteous"

The first code of behavior ought to be how they set up the churches.

Timothy in the Bible states how the leaders of the church should behave and their character. It also talks about the behaviour of the wife.

yes they should, there are qualifications listed in 1 tim 3 and this should apply to all who are in leadership positions
maybe our churches do seem to be set up differently
that just means the way they are set up is probably wrong

I really feel like church leaders should be held much more accountable than they do. I have had many experiences when pastors who were sick on power have disregarded many people's strong advice and done what they wanted. I've seen 3 churches go down. I've seen and heard young adults say they were called to be a pastor and were not suited for the job spiritually or emotionally. I don't know what churches need, I'm not an expert, but I am an example of a person who was beaten up by the system. I hate church and I will not go back.
