G
“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
6because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”[SUP]a[/SUP]
7Endure hardship as discipline; God is treating you as his children. For what children are not disciplined by their father? 8If you are not disciplined—and everyone undergoes discipline—then you are not legitimate, not true sons and daughters at all. 9Moreover, we have all had human fathers who disciplined us and we respected them for it. How much more should we submit to the Father of spirits and live! 10They disciplined us for a little while as they thought best; but God disciplines us for our good, in order that we may share in his holiness. 11No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."
Hebrews 12
------------------------------------------------------
When God, seemingly, is punishing you for something in life, maybe, it doesn't seem fair, or, right, even, but, always, God is doing what He's doing to His own (sheep) in Love, for God is Love
So, we should WANT to be disciplined by God, for that means we are doing things right. God's covering us.
Right?
Love is a many splendid thing, right? Well, yes and no.
In human hands, 'love' is splendidly awful, actually. But, take away the human element of love and insert His Love into the equation and, wow, GO FIGURE, even, calculus, if you failed it in high school, 'cuz God will have your back, He will be doing the math
Now, some things we just can't do, we think we can, but, we find out through discipline that we CAN'T do 'it' without Him. The 'little engine' that is our mind THINKS IT CAN, THINKS IT CAN just watch tv all the time when we kNOW others are counting on us to be at church, or, just doing something that God's convicting us to do DIFFERENT, whatever 'it' is.
So, God disciplines us to show us He Loves us
Let's take this idea of 'discipline' a little further, too. OK? When we get 'spanked' by God for something we done either bad, or, independent of His KNOWN perfect for us, as Daniel Lewis says in a movie, 'THERE WILL BE BLOOD!' OK, that's a little harsh, how about we say, instead, 'THERE WILL BE A ROD !' And, you thought ONLY your kids needed rods.
We need to keep trusting Him after the whippin' because His discipline will strengthen us, sharpen us, hone us into the man, or, woman, that God wants us to become for Him, to do things for His glory in our lives ,and, not so consequently, great rewards will come, and, they will come from Him.
