Fried Apples
Five or six apples, peeled, cored and cut into six pieces
1/2 C sugar
6 T sweet butter
1 T cinnamon
Dash of salt
2 or 3 Nutmeg gratings (approx. 1/8 t)
Melt butter in a skillet. Get it hot, but don't let it burn. Pour the apples into the pan.
Sprinkle the sugar, cinnamon, salt and nutmeg onto the apples.
Fry, covered, on medium heat, turning frequently about 15 to 20 minutes.
Serve as an accompaniment to pork, chicken, on toast, over pancakes or vanilla ice cream.
