GLBT lifestyles are unsustainable. That is the long and short of it.
Tell this to my lesbian Aunt who has been happily married to her wife for 30+ years. Not trying to be argumentative, just pointing out a fact. (she's also a Christian... )

On an slightly irrelevant note, I was a bit appalled by the amount of homophobia on this site! I understand that some people do not believe in or support gay rights, but I am sure that Jesus said "love everyone" and "tolerate everyone".

That's all.
Others have already posted some of the verses in the New Testament that condemn the homosexual act as sin, so I won't re-post them. I've been on this site for quite a while and while there a few people that I could categorize as Homophobic, by far the majority hold a biblical view point that condemns the act of homosexuality, not the person in the same way that we would condemn the act of theft, not the thief.

By all means we are to love people, but part of love involves correcting them when they are in sin. It sure isn't loving to allow someone to walk off a cliff just because they think it's the right thing to do.

If you study the culture of the time that the New Testament was written in, you will find that homosexuality flourished under the Roman Empire in which case the cultural issue is a moot point. Our culture today is very similar to the culture 2000 years ago.

The problem with homosexuals is that many of them tend to be nice and likeable to a lot of people. Therefore I find that many people find it necessary to defend them. They go completely against nature with thier acts of sodomy, that's for the release of waste products many gay men are hospitalized and receive major surgery due to rectal tearing. Waste products leak into the tear causing major infection that can poison the entire bodily system. On another note, during my childood and teenage years I've had to endure unwanted advances from gay men. Even now I'm approached or leere at by them its disgusting. The entire lifestyle is appalling. Everytime I talk to a gay person I feel like I'm talking to a demon. If you are a christian please don't condone this behavior. If you love God please don't defend the behavior.

I don't think that was the purpose of the post, and since she is 15, I don't think it is worth even focusing on that sentence. Secondly, how did I know people would be up in arms about something so irrelevant? That's her opinion, one that doesn't really matter enough to be upset over, especially when made by a young 15 year old girl. There are a lot of things I disagree with on the site as well, but it doesn't matter much, since I don't have the power to fix them, nor do I get paid to fix them either.

I think the point of the post was her actual questioning about homosexuality and menstruation being/not being sins, and also the idea that they are not treated equally (if both were in fact sins, which is not true, since menstruation is not a sin).
We're pointing out that by starting with an insult, it makes us want to just turn away. I will honestly say that I don't like helping complainers.

I didn't want to resort to a poorly designed website call christianchat.com, but I really wanted to address this and get some responses. I don't know who will respond to this and whether or not he or she is a reliable source. I guess I'll just hope for the best.

Let me preface this by claiming that I am not an expert on the Bible and its words. I may end up writing something that is completely wrong.

—-

I was trying to sleep, but I was instead thinking of God, the Bible, and Christianity. Mainly the people and their beliefs. I had an epiphany of sorts.

I, of course, believe in God and Jesus one hundred percent - no doubts at all. I am, however, beginning to doubt Christians and what they’re teaching. I’ve been wondering how years of changes in society and the government have altered people’s views on the Bible.

For example, in the Old Testament, women were shunned when they menstruated, right? Of course we do not shun women anymore, even though it was technically a teaching of God. But are women still sinning every month? When did God or Jesus ever say “In so-and-so years, menstruation is no longer a sin”?

Now let’s compare this to homosexuality. As well as menstruation being a “sin”, acting in a homosexual manner was also wrong during that time. So now, why is menstruation natural and non-sinful, while gay people still have to fight for their rights? Jesus said nothing about menstruation. Nor did he say anything about homosexuality.

Therefore, menstruation could still be a sin as well as homosexuality. Or both could be non-sinful. This is my dilemma.

If someone says to me “Menstruation isn’t a sin anymore because it is the 21st century”, can’t I say back “Then neither is homosexuality”?

—-

I am also not too sure about gay marriage. God defined marriage as “the union of one man and one woman.” He was very specific about this. So is gay marriage a sin? Can homosexuality not be sinful while gay marriage is? Or, similar to menstruation, can the times pass and make all of this invalid? Or can nothing just become “invalid”. Sinful menstruation did, did it not?

—-

Also, I could be completely ignorant and misinformed about everything.

The fact that there are purity laws surrounding menstruation does not mean it was a sin.

Secondly, I would draw the distinction between a law meant for a specific culture at a specific point in time (purity regulations regarding menstruation) and fundamental violations of the Natural Law, which is established by self-evident principles of teleology/purpose in creation itself (the violation being homosexuality).

Thank you for all of your responses.

First, I am sorry that I insulted the website. I realized my mistake after I posted it.

And I now understand that menstruation is not a sin, which I thank you for. However, I am still not convinced whether or not homosexuality is a sin. I really liked the verses posted about God never changing, and I agree with them. But, it just seems like their are so many arguments out there that can justify homosexuality not being a sin.

I realize that there are a lot of posts dealing with homosexuality on here; I am sorry.

On an slightly irrelevant note, I was a bit appalled by the amount of homophobia on this site! I understand that some people do not believe in or support gay rights, but I am sure that Jesus said "love everyone" and "tolerate everyone".

That's all.
where did Jesus say to tolerate everyone? Jesus called the scribes and pharisees a brood of vipers and unwashed tombs..how is that tolerant?? you need to reread Romans 1:24 again and again till you see the truth about how Jesus viewed the sin of homosexuality

I just want to make a distinction that there is a difference between what people believe as a part of their religion and the rights people receive as citizens who are a part of society. From a Christian perspective, there is the law you follow as part of your religion, and then from a secular perspective, there is the law that you follow in your society. I hold the opinion that someone's civil rights shouldn't be decided based on what the Bible says or doesn't say about sin... although there are certainly people out there who would have a word or two with me about that, I'm sure...

Sorry, Just being nit picky!

In terms of gay marriage, I would have to say that based on what little I know about the Bible, my impression would be that gay marriage is a no-no. However, in terms of gays getting married legally in our society, I don't give 2 ducks.

Here's a little gem of an article that offers some insight on what it is like to be gay and a christian: Bible Translation Errors

You can also read about the author of the article, which is also an interesting read.

Hope this provides some useful or insightful information.
You sound A LOT like a Libertarian. You have your personal beliefs about homosexuality (or, really any social issue) and you stand strong with them, but you don't think that your beliefs should be law. That's how I am. Just because I believe something doesn't mean it should be the law of a free nation.

Don't compare homosexuality and menstruation. Menstruation is part of the child birth process while homosexuality prevents child birth in the first place.

Think about it for at least 30 seconds. Man + Man does not equal baby. Woman + Woman does not equal baby.

That is my number one reason for thinking there is anything wrong with homosexuality at all. I don't even need the Bible to arrive at this conclusion. The whole point of sex is child birth. This is something modern society has forgotten. It has turned sex into something more than it actually is. Sex is a thing that God put into you so that you (as well as plants and animals) have the desire to have offspring and continue the human race. Duh people.

Now I do understand where you are coming from wondernyan. Many Christians have treated homosexuals and women bad in the past and some are continuing to do so. But this is a completely separate issue.

I can believe that homosexuality is unnatural because it prevents child birth, but I can still love homosexuals because either God made them that way or they choose to be that way, I am not decided on this issue.

But yea.Get your issues straight. If you want to argue please argue from the level of an adult, not a little kid.
Oh Dear Lord, please educate yourself and don't simply say homosexuality isn't natural because it doesn't result in birth, and also simply insulting someones age doesn't validate your ridiculous and unfounded beliefs about the subject at hand, if you put the time in to do some research and use unbiased sources you can see homosexuality is completely natural.
Also not a shred of evidence supports your beliefs that "they chose to be that way" in fact its quite the opposite

Natural | Define Natural at Dictionary.com
I'm also not entirely sure you know what unnatural means

Being Gay, Is it a Choice? - YouTube
Homosexual behavior in animals - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Homosexuality in the Animal Kingdom - YouTube

I'm sure you wont even bother to watch the links...

And the irony of your last sentence hurts so bad

Please don't use the bible for any argument

This is the same bible that says
Don't have a variety of crops on the same field. (Leviticus 19:19)
Don't cut your hair nor shave. (Leviticus 19:27)
Any person who curseth his mother or father, must be killed. (Leviticus 20:9) Have you ever done that?

I'm sure you have all had a hair cut....

Anyone who dreams or prophesizes anything that is against God, or anyone who tries to turn you from God, is to be put to death. (Deuteronomy 13:5)

If anyone, even your own family suggests worshipping another God, kill them. (Deuteronomy 13:6-10)
If you find out a city worships a different god, destroy the city and kill all of it's inhabitants... even the animals. (Deuteronomy 13:12-15)

Kill anyone with a different religion. (Deuteronomy 17:2-7)

Don't you all think the bible is filled with some pretty evil commands

The only reliable source is your bible! In the beginning the word already existed;the word was with God,the word was God.Rev 22:18 ''I John, solemnly warn everyone who hears the prophetic words of this book:if any add anything to them,God will add to their punishment the plagues described in this book. And if any take anything away from the prophetic words of this book,God will take away from them their share of fruit of the tree of life and the holy city, which are described in this book.Gen 1:27-30''God created human beings, making them to be like himself. He created Male and Female, blessed them and said,''Have many children so that your descendants will live all over the earth...''Homosexual can't have babies through natural process,so they're just not right!Women ;menstruation,it's being part of their natural life from the beginning..It's was God's decision for them,He gave themtheir role(wife).
In certain circumstances true Christians will always find answers in the bible. It has it all!Just pray and ask God to help us understand what we read.

Question asked by Timothy: Lord, have we acted wrongly in our sex life?

[Answer from God The Father] When lying together, remember the decrees of God, concerning these things of sex and intimacy:

You shall not lie with another, outside of marriage... With your spouse only shall you lie. Even sex before marriage, called fornication, is adultery.

You shall not think of others, but your spouse only, nor of unnatural acts.

You shall not lie with your wife, during her monthly shedding of blood.

You shall not partake in sodomy.

You shall not behold sexual sin with your eyes, nor partake of any form of pornography. To do so is to sin with them.

No man or woman, in all creation, shall lie with another of their same gender. This is abomination in the eyes of The Most High and full of blasphemy! I gave unto man, by Adam, woman... From his side did I form her. And he who was one became two, and they two became one again in marriage... Two of one flesh, man and woman... And I saw that it was very good.

Could you give me the verse(s) for menstruation being a sin? Because as far as I'm concerned, homosexuality is a sin and menstruation is a result of sin.

Just the title of this thread made me frown: 'Homosexuality in this century plus other fun things?' Come on, there's no fun in homosexuality at all. It's a very sad affair, eventhough homosexuals call themselves 'gay' (aka 'happy').

... and btw, this site is the BEST christian site i have ever seen. If you don't like it, leave it, js.

I've had these "tolerant" and "liberal" homosexuals give out my personal information on the internet as they make up lies and libel me simply for speaking out against homosexuality (not them personally) and the homosexual agenda (not to be confused with their own personal beliefs). I even had a homosexual once try to hire a black thug to violently attack me to shut me up from doing this. That was pretty funny actually because the thug followed me into church on a Sunday night and ended up going forward. The homosexual who was paying him was sitting in the row behind me and got up cursing and left via the back door... lol.

Oh yes, these "tolerant" and "liberal" people want to take away your rights to oppose them. That's a fact.

... alright, could someone then please close this thread? Funny how mentioning the word 'homosexuality' in a christian forum like this is like pouring blood into fish tank full of piranhas. Sometimes the best way to deal with atheist trolls is too ignore them, or better still report them.
