For a new believer its a confused state, standing at the cross-roads of denominations. How does one take a journey in faith when there are so many ways pointing to the Same person of Christ. Does it matter, or is it just common for christianity as a religion to have so many branches? But we know for a christian, relationship matters more than the religion. What is today's outlook on this?

If you are drawn to one particular "brand," I would say God has a plan for you there :)

You're wisdom transcends your 23 years in this life. Having a relationship with God in Jesus Christ is what matters. How you go about that relationship will be determined through the Holy Spirit in your life. Pray, meditate, read Scripture and walk among brethren, and in doing so, God will lead you to where He wants you. My prayers are lifted for you.

It is easy these days to look up the statements of faith for many denominations. You might want to check out any potential church that way, if you are concerned about being led into error, and I do understand and sympathize with your concern. Trust the Holy Spirit to lead you into Truth. It might even be impossible for you to find a perfect match in terms of doctrine, but surely you will find people you can love, and those who will love you, while you are having the revealed written Word of God taught to you, and you grow in your faith. To that end, I wish you well. God bless, and welcome to CC!

Relationship does matter in the faith of our Lord, and so does sound doctrine.

There is to many warnings in the NT about staying firm in sound doctrine, and the outcome if we don't.

Their is only one doctrine of Christ, not many.

Paul warns that another gospel and another Jesus can and will be taught. In those cases he says those teachings will not lead to salvation.

We must always test others by praying to God and letting His Holy Spirit guide us in the Truth in His word.

Psa 118:8
It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man.

Pro 3:5
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Pro 3:6
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Mat 6:33
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

There is only one True Christian religion and that is the religion that believes in Jesus and follows Him and His teachings only.

If you find a Church teaching the opposite of what is in the Scriptures, then you can be sure its a false church.
