I look back over my life,
Back 40 years.
So much strife,
And too many tears.
In moments like this,
I wish I could change things
To how I wish they could have been.
Mom would love me more,
And Robin wouldn't be so nasty.
I wouldn't have seizures.
I would not get cancer.
But we don't get do-overs in life,
And I can't go back.
I can only remain in the present time,
And look forward to the future.
In moments like this.
If I COULD change my past life, would I?
Maybe certain things, yes.
But those things have made me stronger
So all the bad things, happened for the best.
By God's grace, I am still here.
Still standing, though afraid.
I am battered and torn,
And battle-weary, yet I press on.
In moments like this,
I refuse to give in
And I refuse to give up.
My soul, the devil won't win.
I am a warrior.
I am a fighter.
I am a survivor.
And the devil hates that.
I am strong, not on my own
But through God, who gives me His strength.
And with that, I shall overcome any obstacle.
Nothing will hold me down.
