I was born in 1925, the idea of the net wasn’t part of our world at all. Now, it is a great tool for evil and good. I remember what life was like without being able to go to the net for information so to me, it seems like an impossibly wonderful dream come true. To learn something, we often had to go to the library or buy an expensive book, or travel miles to a research center or----------.

It has opened up a way to share information that would take time and money beyond most of our abilities to pay to those searching for true information about God.

I can study ancient Hebrew history opened up through the people who researched the deep sea scrolls.I don’t have to go to our best colleges to find this information.I can find out what Origen had to say in AD 182.I can read the words of Constantine and learn his effect on our church.I can learn what life was like in Jerusalem when Christ lived as a man.I can even learn ancient Hebrew, and learn the difference between ancient and modern Hebrew.I can grow as a Christian.

Churches and ministers paid the big bucks for tools and commentaries for studying bible, now lots are free on the net.Free bible software is a wonder, and my old concordance is gathering dust.

I could use the net for pornography.I could learn of the occult.I could think anything on the net is truth and be led into many errors.I have to know how to sift it for truth. With all its wonders, it is doing untold evil in the world.

What do you each think of the net?Do you have rules to use to sift it for truth?

I guess that would be like asking "are Americans (or Norwegians) bad?"

like you said, it is a matter of what you, the individual choose to look up and share.
Hey, we should hi- jack the internet! :p

Is the Net good or bad?

Do guns kill people?

Do cheeseburgers make people fat?

and many other such questions...........

In my opinion, these kind of questions when answered "yes," are a persons attempt to avoid personal responsibility.

But, now, that may just be me

It is inherently NOT good OR bad. The good or bad comes in how you use it.

There is biblical truth about scripture on the net, and there is distortion of biblical truth.

Even history can be distorted. The net has shown me sites that report Constantine as a wonderful man who allowed the Christian church to grow, and all the facts they give check out. Other sites tell of Constantine who has ruined the truth of the church and brought in pagan practices, and again, the facts they report check out.

I hope each person who uses the net for information will tell how they manage it for true understanding?

The Roman roads helped in the spread of the Gospel.
So did the printing press.
So will the Internet.

Information can spread at the speed of light now.
A planet walking in sin and darkness today, could walk in light tomorrow with a single video or audio or anything indicating a legit/real move of God.

God used the Roman roads and printing press, and I'm sure he's just getting started using the Internet.

Certainly true............and I know it's true, because if He can (on occasion, with great effort) use me.......He can do anything!
