i'm reminded of the vision of Nebudchanezzar, interpreted by Daniel - the great image with feet of iron mixed with "miry clay" (in KJV) -- a symbol of strength mixed with weakness; he has taken me from my miry weakness and seated me in him in the heavens, who will judge the nations with an iron scepter --
all earth's kingdoms, ground to dust by the stone not hewn by hands - which struck the feet made of iron & miry clay - and grew to fill the whole earth.
