[h=3]John 5:1-9[/h]New International Version - UK (NIVUK)
[h=3]The healing at the pool[/h]5 Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. [SUP]2 [/SUP]Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate a pool, which in Aramaic is called Bethesda[SUP][a][/SUP] and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. [SUP]3 [/SUP]Here a great number of disabled people used to lie – the blind, the lame, the paralysed. [SUP][b][/SUP] [SUP]5 [/SUP]One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. [SUP]6 [/SUP]When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, ‘Do you want to get well?’
[SUP]7 [/SUP]‘Sir,’ the invalid replied, ‘I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.’
[SUP]8 [/SUP]Then Jesus said to him, ‘Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.’ [SUP]9 [/SUP]At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.

1 Now all feasts Jews went to jerusalem so everybody would be there.
2 There was a pool this pool was for cleaning to be pure to go to the temple to make sacrifice, if your were not clean enough you could not go to synagoge or make sacrifices.
3 This was a gathering of people with handicaps not unclean but looked down on because in those days if something like that was wrong with you it was because you or your parents did something wrong, This is not true however.
4 "An angel of the Lord would come down and stir the water and the first one in would be healed." This is why they were at this pool to be healed by God's power.
5 He was probably 38 it was probably a invalid from birth as many people Jesus healed were. This is a well the pharisees would stay clear of.
6 When we meet Jesus we have to be willing to have done what He can do.
7 This man was asking if Jeus would put him in the well before someone went in. Jesus would do far more than just heal this man.
8-9 " Get up! Pick up your matand walk." This require action after 38 years of having a condition that made us unable to walk if somebody came to us and said "walk" we would explain or condtion. This man gained faith as well as being well. The man did as he was told. Jesus changed his lfe forever.
