Jonah 1 verse 17 and Jonah 2 1-10
To me the Lord is showing how futile it is to disobey. The Fish not only was put in place to lead Jonah's heart back to the Lord but it's symbolic of the enemy. He was placed in a situation feelings swallowed up and hopeless. Remember Jonah himself had knowingly refused to obey the Lord. It shows the consequence of that action. 7 “When my soul fainted within me, I remembered the Lord;
And my prayer went up to You, Into Your holy temple. I feel Jonah was saying his hope was failing and almost lost but he remembered the Lords promise's and was uplifted again. Almost like another rebirth that we often find after we make choices out of fear against the Lords will. The Lords mercy and grace is shown heavily in this Jonah looked up the Lord and he still answered despite what Jonah did.
