Actually, it's hinted that they should test, just without sharp objects and cell phones:

Achtung! Beim Probeliegen spitze Gegenstände (handy, schlüssel,etc.) aus den Taschen nehmen!

Attention! When you test it out sharp objects (cell phone, keys, etc.) out of your pockets!
