Imputed essentially means given to you. When you read of Abraham recieving imputed righteousness for obeying God. It simply means that it was given to him for obeying God. If you remember the story it was not just a free gift but it says Abraham obeyed God. This is the righteousness that we have after salvation that pertains to our works of obedience to God. Christ righteousness is our salvation alone. Yet we are given credit for our works that we obey God and that is called Imputed. It is still "given" to us. It is as though we never could earn righteousness unless God granted this imputed grace to call us righteous because we do righteous things when we obey Him like Abraham did. Abraham was made righteous by God's command which he obeyed.

When God commandments or tells us to do something then the power to do it is always offered with it. When God spoke creation followed. When Jesus spoke the storm obeyed.

When God says do this then Faith obeys knowing that when God commands there is power in that command to preform it.

No its not that we are not completely saved by Christ is that obeying Him is our righteousness. It is what God wants of Us. You would agree that someone who disobeys God is unrighteous. Imputed means that even by giving the command to us, God made us righteous if we keep it. It is not as much a salvation doctrine as it is that we must obey to be righteous. No doubt we lose the blood of Jesus if we trample it with unrighteousness and use it as license. The Bible gives us commands to make us righteous. That is imputed or given to us righteousness. It makes us righteous to obey the Bible.

Abraham didn't do anything but believe what GOD said (that his seed would be as the stars of heaven). Based on that faith alone, GOD declared him righteous.

And [GOD] brought [Abram] forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. Genesis 15:5-6

Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law;(observing the law) rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin. Rom3:20

Thanks, I was going to say this.

Abraham did nothing when God counted him as a righteous man. Nor did david when God declared he was a man after his own heart.

All the work Abraham and David did followed their declaration of God to be his children. Including their sins. Yet they were always called Gods people.

Impute simply means to "credit to ones account"

God credited to Abrahams account the righteousness of God. His debt was paid, (although jesus would not pay the price for a few centuries yet) before he did one work.

Sneaky but God gave us 2 Corinthians 5:21

2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Works do not make one more or less righteous. They demonstrate obedience and a desire to serve the Christ we love but the do not make us righteous.

see, all this works-faith-belief mash-up sounds good, holy, righteous. it is preached all the time all over the place. but, anytime grace-faith-works gets out of order, a big pile of garbage is the result.

So Jesus' death and Resurrection is not good enough for our salvation?
