There is a third option that I think hasn't been thrown out there yet, there are those who intentionally use negativity to get attention (although I don't think it's as common as the other options. There are those who have learned that negativity gets them attention so they wallow in it intentionally in order to get that attention. Duh, that probably runs right back to the self esteem issue. :rolleyes:

my instant thought would be hurt people hurt other people, they say negative things because thats their way of expressing their hurt their going through.
