Well for starters I've always been a Christian, raised southern baptist, surprising for a southern I know. I was the youngest of 9 children. At 17 year I dropped out of High School because I wasn't going to graduate no matter what so I gave up. Knowing I didn't have allot of options out there I went with the one option that I knew and that was joining the Army. But at the time I wanted to enlisted the army was requiring a GED witch I didn’t have at the time. So I moving to Washington state and living with family there as I struggled to get a GED. About at this time my faith in God in general began to waver. So I got my GED and for some reason or another I joined the Navy instead of the Army. So for the first year enlisted in the Navy I slung chow( I put chow on peoples trays) finely I was allowed to train to become a Hospital Corpsmen(witch at the time was my dream job in the Navy) so after a couple months of training I became a Corpsmen. After that I trained and trained and trained, I became a HM-8403 a Force Recon Duty Corpsmen, stationed at Camp Pendleton. I was deployed for about 10 months in 08-09 where my faith in God was just destroyed and unless you’ve been in the Sandbox before you have no idea whats its like. So I got stateside in mid to late 09 after getting wounded in action. It wasn’t until late 09 that I returned to active duty. So in 2010 I went to Afghanistan. Where on Nov. the convoy I was in was hit with shoulder fired RPG’s from both side’s.
And all of a sudden the call “CORPSMEN” was just beginning yelled louder then anything around me. So due to my training I think I ran toward the gun shots and the call for corpsmen. When I got to the area where the call was coming from lying( I'm leaving out the explicit parts) some how still alive was a private. Instantly I went to work trying to keep him alive. During this whole time the kid was praying to God to save him. And I swear to this day the whole fire fight just went silent and out of no where an man in robe’s came and laid his hands on this dying kid. The whole time I was just in shock at what I was seeing. But just as quickly as the man appeared he was gone. And by God’s never ending mercy the privates vitals became normal to the point where I could move him. And even though up to that point I really didn’t believe in God anymore that one event showed me how great Gods mercy really is. So since that day Ive been a strong believer in Christ.
