I agree with the idea that the Government should not even be involved with religious issues, and marriage is a religious institution ordained by God between a man and a woman. I think it's a smart move to counter the federal governments push to cram the gay marriage agenda down the throats of the states who do not want it. But we'll see if the bill passes first.

This is probably the most sane response I have seen. Remove the power of marriage from the government and put it in the churches where it belongs. Then you don't have gay marriage and the government can just give them the same rights married couples get as far as insurance, taxes, wills, etc. Christians win because there is now no gay marriage and the gays when because they get the same rights. Its called compromise, because it's not like you're just going to get rid of homosexuals.

Surprised to see this happen. Lots of millenials don't view the governments marriage license system as legitimate anyway, even between heterosexual couples. Theres already a small amount of people that just get married and dont even bother getting a license or registering. Who knows, it might become a mainstream trend in another few years.
