I'm not an expert, but from what i understand Nietzshe was an avid atheist who pretty much labeled all religious people as nutjobs. And that belief in a higher power was a coping mechanism for life for weaker minded people.

The quote is a good one for sure, though slightly off-putting since it was most likely a statement made against christianity.
