It's a lot of History . I would look only for credible Christian sources ,to learn the history...
From my understanding they where many manuscripts, and they where not kept in any one church. Other then Christians had control of them from the very beginning . Later many copies where made and spread throughout the world. When you bring these copies together what they find is they are all the same, aside from minor slips of the pen . There is a lot of history just don't stumble and take the word of non-Christians . I'll work on getting some info .

The scrolls of Moses were kept in the Ark in the tabernacle, but they were copied for the people to studied them, and when they were handed over to the Babylonians, no one knows what has happened to the Ark that had the original scrolls in them. So they had kepted some of the copies while in captivity, but then later most of the copies were destroyed and the rest were hidden with testimonies of the prophets and the histories of the Jews. Some of the Jews has remember some of the scrolls by heart and had re-written them down, but when Nero had reigned, He order to destroyed all of the Jews scrolls and make sure that no one practiced their religions.
