The desire to "be the first one the air" leads to errors like this. Fox made the right call in immediately apologizing, and Smith was forthright in taking responsibility upon himself, Leland Vitters, and others who were responsible for getting the wrong information out. It appears the would-be rioters are the ones who started shouting "They shot him!" when they were, in fact, clueless, as they always are. Too bad it got people stirred up, but now its fixed.
