How do we know for sure that a microchip is going to be "the mark"? I know its been widely forecast, and the media loves to tweak Christians with stories like this. But what do we know, really?

Rev 13:16&17 Also it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave,[SUP][e][/SUP] to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, [SUP]17 [/SUP]so that no one can buy or sell unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of its name.

The same imagery is used in the OT and NT. Although the Hebrews made the instructions literal and wore phylacteries on their foreheads and tied to their right wrist it is clear that the language was symbolic.

Since the same imagery is used in Revelation written by the same author (God) we can be pretty sure that the imagery in Rev is just as symbolic as the imagery in the OT.

The mark is a clear and open sign of allegiance. A microchip has not become this. Yet.

I still wouldn't take one, though. For a multitude of reasons.
