The cross aspect is the starting point of each day in which will, desires, and flesh are set mortified in place of God's own while the yoke aspect (e.g. Matthew 11:30) is the tasks and roles the Lord asks one to take on.

We can't really work the second aspect (e.g. the yoke) until we've submitted to the first (e.g. the cross) with Christ.

^ Amen!

My understanding of the yoke is our being in union with Christ, consecrating ourselves to Him. So the reconciliatory work of Christ on the cross has to be appropriated on one's life first (they have to be delivered from the yoke of the enemy) in order to be in union with Him. Rom 10:9-10 " That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation".
