when i go into a church the first thing I look at is it's hymnal or songbook. It doesn't matter how old the hymnal is...I see them as a commentary reflecting the Church's beliefs, hence Baptist Hymnal, Lutheran, Methodist, etc
I do agree that the Contemporary non denom churches lyrics have more about 'me' and 'we' than about He...probably a lot to do with 18th-19th century pietism. Let me try that again 'me', 'me', 'me', 'me'....there, I feel better already.
