Far away from You,in the midst of worldly pleasures,
Forsaking the invaluable 'Heavenly Treasure'
For a life so transient , so vain!
For then I was at the centre of Satan's domain.
Each day I plunged deeper into the miry clay
As the more outrageously I turned my back on your way.
A pawn I became in the devil' s hands and to his tunes I swayed
Least bothered of the things I do and of what people might say.
But peace eluded me and an empty void filled my heart
And my soul is in agonising pain as if pricked by a dart.
Why am I like this ?What have I become?
Its all because I 've turned into the prodigal son!
Betrayed , hurt and all alone
I felt as if on an island I was marooned!
Everything is bleak and hopelessness surround
And every heavy step fell on wet slippery ground.
Utterly hopeless, dismayed and shattered
My toying with worldliness has left my life badly battered!
Filled with remorse, regret and shame
With the full strength of my inner voice,I called out Your Name
Instantaneously a light dawned in my realm of darkness
And it convicted me of my wanton waywardness
On my knees I fell and tears flooded the ground
And that unmistakable love once again my life surround
The words ' Welcome back my child' keeps resounding in my ears
And those assuring words drove away all my fears
A forgiven person I rose from that place
Oh my Lord how unmeasurable is thy Grace!
