after something like 20 years, The Revolutionary Army Of The Infant Jesus Christ is touring and recording a new album.

possibly the best band name ever, and one of the only Christian artists i can think of that compares to deep secular bands like Death in June or Dead Can Dance, RAIJ is an enigmatic form of blend of world-folk, medieval orchestration, ambient electronic and acoustic vibrance and deeply spiritual, echoing mystery and revelation.

a rare interview was released today here:

some music is embedded in the interview, including some new tracks that can be found on soundcloud here:

and here's an example of their music, from back in 1995, Cantata Sacra

I had a mp3 album of these guys once. Always loved the name. The music, not so much. But then again i was never into that form of goth. Now, being older and my tastes having expanded, listening to this track... hmm... there are elements i like, but something that just throws me off still. More listens would either cause me to adjust or drive me away again. Not sure which.
I think it's the funky rhythms over the darker back sounds/singing. To me that just doesn't mesh. And the rhythms make me think of the 'demo' beats on a drum machine. I think that's the part that pushes me away.
