Most americans view spiritual warfare as something simple. A simple rebuke to the devil is supposed to make him flee. Its not that easy considering the premise is that Satan is bothering you and is not supposed to. Of course the verse is true that we should rebuke the devil and he will flee. But we neglect that God gave us power in the Spirit that makes Satan flee. And we neglect that angels battle Satan when we rebuke Satan. The biggest thing people deal with is that the demons keep coming back. The main thing is that demons have no permission to be there if you are supposed to cast them out. This is in conflict to Americans with Job the book where a man was plagued by Satan. We really should not use Job now because its obviously not the same that Job could not rebuke it all and make Satan leave. In the New Testament we have power and help that Job did not enjoy. The best thing that we can believe is in prayer and calling on God when we deal with demons or spirits or "ghost". Any curse on our life we should have power over in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. We need to realize that a mans war is his prayer and God given power in the Spirit.
