XVII. I ask if there be two men, one of them of the very best kind; equitable, perfectly just, of exemplary faith: the other singular for his wickedness and audacity: and suppose the community in such an error, that the good man passes for a wicked and dishonest one; while the bad one has the reputation of perfect probity and good faith.

And through this general delusion of the citizens, the good man is harassed, arrested, bound, his eyes put out, condemned, thrown in chains, tortured in the fire, banished. Wanting every thing, at last he appears to all to be deservedly the most wretched of men.

On the other hand, the bad man is praised, sought after, caressed by all. Honours of every kind, authority, power, and every advantage conferred upon him from all sides. A man, finally, in the estimation of all deemed the very best, and worthy of the highest gifts of fortune.

Who would be so insane as to hesitate which of these two he would choose to be?

XVIII. As it is with individuals, so it is with nations. No community is so stupid, as not to prefer commanding by injustice, to serving according to justice.

THE
REPUBLIC OF CICERO,
TRANSLATED FROM THE LATIN

If we as individuals who make up a nation do not take a stand for what is good, honorable, just, and right then we should expect not by ignorance but by malice for society to live by injustice which in that environment is more profitable than what is just.

Good law is based on reality within reason and logic. Good law is founded on the universal natural laws that God has ordained for mankind. No one can escape the laws of nature and the law of morality.

The God of creation is the lawgiver and Supreme Judge. Right justice is based on good laws. Laws that protect God-given rights and condemn those who wish to encroach on those rights.

To be one nation under God is to live by these standards. A great nation will learn from the wisdom of God's written laws based in the Bible. The foundation of both American and English law. It is by these standards that a Christian can pledge allegiance to a country that obeys God rather than men.

We are generationally at a pivotal moment in American history where Americans must decide who will they obey. On one end we are told to obey the ruling authorities of government while on another we can not obey what goes against God's commands.

Who do we ultimately obey, the tyrant or God? The laws of the wicked or the righteous? Will we persecute the righteous or as Cicero warned will the wicked be praised, sought after, and caressed by all, having honors of every kind, given authority, and power?

For Cicero it led to his beheading, his hands chopped off (for his writings), and his tongue ripped out for his speeches against the powerful oligarchs and the tyrannical threats to his Roman Republic.

For the American, we still have time to turn from error and by God's grace if it be His will He may once again heal and protect this land for future generations.

Jesus may call the church home in this very hour bringing about the 7 years of tribulation but until then we are to stay diligently working in preparation for our Master's return. We are to always stay ready like the virgin women who had enough oil for their lamps in anticipation of the coming Groom.

Like the watchman in the watchtower, we are blowing the trumpet so all may know of the coming dangers. Heed the call and be ready to resist evil no matter where it arises.
