Dr. Joe Morecraft gives some advice to parents: don't make up endless and strict rules to govern your children out of fear of sex. It won't work, and it will drive them away from you.

Is courtship Biblical? Ask Dr. Joe Morecraft!

Huh?

Are you trying to talk about something specific or are you just promoting a teacher you like?

There are a lot of doctors out their with their pop psychology, that sell books to people for money, and no concious of what they might be doing to the reader in the long run. They don't stand behind their credentials, they hide behind them, hoping that you won't see them for what they are.

Heres a recant by a Dr. Benjamin Spock, after he produced books on child rearing that essentially said "don't use negative discipline on your child"

On permissive behavior - by Dr. Benjamin Spock, baby care specialist and Vietnam War objector. He now says, "We have reared a generation of brats. Parents aren't firm enough with their children for fear of losing their love or incurring their resentment. This is a cruel deprivation that we professionals have imposed on mothers and fathers. Of course, we did it with the best of intentions. We didn't realize until it was too late how our know-it-all attitude was undermining the self assurance of parents."

His attitude about disciplining a child goes astray of the bibles scripture at Proverbs 22:15. Ofcourse we don't want to isolate this scripture and think that christians believe only in beating their children. On the contrary Ephesians 6:4 points out that mindless discipline is useless even harmful. I could go on and on about "modern wisdom" being simply a popular "fart" today and nothing more that "passed wind" tommorrow. I am how ever more curious about what we are suppose to take from Dr. Morecraft, prehaps you could expound a little more about this?
