Jesus Christ is God who made himself manlike. He embraced our nature, the human body with all its vulnerabilities and temptations but He never sinned! He didn't come on Earth to teach us the good manners (the ten commendmants would have been sufficient if that's all what God wanted from us) but to teach us to be saints. He incarnated the human body to be closer to us, to feel our incapabilities, to share the human drama, the reality of us. We, in our turn, we must try to imitate Him and become Godlike (not in essence because that's impossible).
Jesus Christ defeated death with His death and He broke the gates of Hell. In the interval between His death and His ressurection, Christ decended in Hell. (St. Peter's first letter, ch. 3, v. 18-19)
