What in the world does China own? - BBC News

With an estimated $4 trillion (£2.7tn) of foreign reserves stashed away in various sovereign wealth funds, China has plenty of cash to splash.
Despite the recent slowdown in the country's GDP, most developed economies would dream of an annual growth rate of 7%.
No wonder then that annual Chinese investment overseas has grown eightfold over the past 10 years to reach more than $140bn in 2013.

And yet Japan has surpassed China as greatest holder of U.S. debt.

It's amazing to me that the U.S. has a trade IMbalance (in 2014 for more than -$342 billion dollars) with a nation (e.g. China) that it has no extradition treaty with: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/16/w...d-of-corruption-many-in-us.html?emc=eta1&_r=0

But then U.S. politicians don't really care if Chinese criminals rob U.S. citizens and run off to hide in China. They only care about more contributions from special interests which is how all this recklessness began in the first place.

Chinese professors, who for years worked as engineers in the USA, are charged with economic espionage in stealing U.S. technology to set up a manufacturing plant in China.

Since the U.S. has no extradition agreement with China, if they had made it to China they would have been in the clear.
