So I have a ton of instruments and pro audio in my "music" room. Today (after 10 years of playing), I realized that I no longer have a desire to play music....at all (besides singing praise at church)... I was recently re-introduced to the ocean after living away from it for many years and now being on paddle boards, boats, scuba diving, and fishing are all things that I can't stop thinking about. Can people totally replace a hobby that brings them happiness for another without even having a shred of desire to go back to the former?

Don't be quick to assume this is a permanent thing. Perhaps your mind and body are enjoying the break and enjoying something new. And once you have a chance to indulge in something else your interest in music will return.

To be really honest, I used to DJ, and my love for music (dance music) is something that I will always love. Although now all I listen to is worship music. I still DJ every now and then although my greatest passion now is worshipping Christ, nothing makes me more happier. Like Ugly said you might come back to it, like I do every now and then, I still love my house music also, but I am very careful what I listen to in these day.
In the past the music I listened to was very dark and the lyrics were pretty bad, not Christian like at all. So now I have sorted through my music and rubbished what music I think is not ok.

I find, when I am going through a hard time my passion for music always helps. Which ever it is, playing an instrument ( I used to play the flute)
or Djing I think it just comes down to how you are feeling at the time.
Music is great source of therapy though, love it.

Ps. Don't throw away your instruments! You will want to play them again one day! I guarantee it
