This does seem to be the popular opinion as to why Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed, but the reason is given in Ezekiel 16:49-50:

'Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.'

IMHO, it is incorrect to emphasize only the sexual sin and overlook the other parts, which God mentions before the "detestable things."
Arrogant, overfed, unconcerned, haughty, unwilling to care about the poor and needy in the world (anti asylum, anti charity). Doing detestable things (murdering innocents, for instance?) ... sound like any country you know?

>>>>Any viewing of nudity other then that of self or spouse is automatically sin, but watching a horror movie is not necessarily sin. That comes down to perspective, how you feel/convinced, and rather there is nude scenes in it as some horror movies do not.<<<<

EXACTLY.... sorta demonstrates a "progression" from the root issue to the final "detestable" outward actions...eh?

As a newer member I am surprise to see someone drag someone's past sin out to the public that they were delivered from.

Ken has SAID SO HIMSELF in discussion here on CC... I was not disclosing a secret...merely mentioning how his issue has put a "slant" on his perspective which is okay for him and others like him... but NOT for universal application to everyone.

I still don't see how using his name in what you were trying to describe, okay? If I mentioned a past sin, are you going to apply my name to something? I hope not! At least until you asked me if it was okay!

Gosh sandy... If some discussion is going on and I notice your "thinking" appears skewed because of YOUR PUBLIC TESTIMONY from another thread <ya know which one I am talking about??> are you going to get all bunched up and offended if I mention "that" being the likely reason you are thinking "thus & thus"???
I was speaking directly to KEN in the post... he isn't offended... why are you?
Ken isn't ashamed to be delivered from porn... he gives God the GLORY... PTL! And that offers HOPE for others... for their edification...PTL!

you seem to demean people if they question something? but if you call me shrew, I have been called worse. I will research to see if this is true about me, and ask God through Jesus for deliverance! I am done!

WHERE did I call you a "shrew"??? Reread the post... I did use the phrase "if I notice your thinking is S-K-E-W-E-D".

skew (skyo͞o) v. skewed, skew·ing, skews v.tr. 1. To turn or place at an angle: skew the cutting edge of a plane. 2. To give a bias to; distort:

Just wanted to hear some thoughts from my brothers and sisters. Why do we speak so much against homosexuality but we don't seem to treat premarital hetro. sex anywhere near as severely? Why do we speak against pornography so strongly but seem to think it is fine to watch someone to go on a murder rampage with a chainsaw? Is it just what we deem more acceptable because of society? Do you see some of these as more sinful to God?

I realize some sins effect us more strongly than others as far as the destruction it causes in our lives but do you see these things equal in God's eyes?
Hi shotgunner,

From my point of view, regarding homosexuality vs. other sins, it is not a matter of one sin being more acceptable than another. The issue here is that those who are living same-sex life styles are and have been attempting to make this sin not sin. That is, they and the world are attempting to make this life style equal with marriage between a man and woman. Also, because they don't see anything wrong with this life style, that is that there is nothing wrong with it, then there is no need to repent. Furthermore, regarding the other sins you mention, such as murder, rape, theft, lying, etc., etc., there is not a world-wide effort to proclaim those actions as normal, such as with the same-sex issue.

We have people who consider themselves as Christian's, but their thinking is that God loves them just the way they are and therefore they can remain that way and continue living that life style. In short, they are justifying and embracing sexual immorality, which is the opposite of repentance. The other issue is that they are changing God's institution of marriage which God created only between a man and a woman. Now I'm sure that if people started attempting to justify murder, rape and all the others mentioned as being perfectly normal, then you would hear Christian's making just as much noise about those issues too. At least I hope that would be the case.
