When I post a video, why can't I get the embedded video instead of just the link? What am I doing wrong?

Do you do this on a computer? I found a solution for that a while back for computers... If you show us what happens when you try, I might be able to remember how to fix it.

As long as you're trying to post them from YouTube, use the link in your address bar (at the top of your browser). Don't use the link in the "share" field below the video, and don't use the embed code below the video.

It's an easy process, click on the video icon

Capture01.JPG

which will open a pop-up window

Capture02.JPG

enter the URL and click the "OK" tab

Unless you're using a mobile device in which case I have no idea other than to switch to the full version and follow the above steps

probably the trick is that if it's from youtube, you have to use the full url, not the short one that you see under the video when you click on "share"
copy/paste the address bar of the video you want to share. with the shorter link, you'll just get a hyperlink here. this is something that changed several months ago here -- used to be that the short form of the url would embed.

i dunno about vids from sites other than youtube; not sure if they can be embedded at all now here.

I followed the steps above and it worked. Thank you, guys!

1. I copied the full URL from the address bar;
2. Clicked on the video icon;
3. Pasted the link into the box;
4. Clicked OK.

But I followed the same steps in the Music Forum and it didn't work. What's wrong with me or my computer?

See? I didn't get any video screen - just the link!

The address you shared shouldn't start with "youtu.be"

The link in your last video is "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNhctZk3qWY&feature=youtu.be"

Try cutting off the end so it's just "https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uNhctZk3qWY"

Thank you, Willie T.! Now I realized another mistake I've been making: I always copied the URL by right clicking on the video screen. Now I'm doing what you guys told me to do: to copy the URL from the address bar.
